Oakland, CA – May 21st, 2013

Oakland City Council unanimously passes historic resolution supporting LGBT athletes:

The Oakland City Council voted unanimously to pass a resolution supporting LGBT athletes and The Last Closet Campaign. The resolution was introduced by City Council President Pat Kernighan. 

The resolution encourages the Commissioners of the five major men’s sports leagues – Major League Baseball, National Football league, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League and Major League Soccer – to state, on camera, that they support their gay players, invite them to come out, and will take all action necessary to ensure their safety.
